Services
Rewiring – Full or Partial
If a property has not already been rewired within the last 25-30 years, the chances are it may need upgrading at least in part in order to bring it up to current standards. The wiring may be potentially dangerous and may not be able to cope with the demands of modern living.
If you plan major remodelling work that constitutes a material alteration as defined by the Building Regulations, it is likely that you may need to rewire part, if not all, of the property, including upgrading the consumer unit (fuse box).
If you are extending your home, or converting an attic or garage, this will constitute new work and therefore all of the new wiring will have to conform to Part P: Electrical Safety, and the existing wiring will have to be improved to ensure that it is able to carry the additional loads safely. Where you are extending or remodelling, the rest of the existing wiring does not have to be upgraded, except where upgrading is required by the energy efficiency requirements of the Building Regulations, i.e. central heating controls.
Emergency Lighting
Make sure that in the event of an emergency, you have the right lighting to illuminate the exit path.
The non-obstructed, quickest and safest escape route must be lit to a minimum of 1 lux during an emergency. If the open area is less than 60m2 and isn’t part of an escape route then emergency lighting isn’t required, however the exit doors for the emergency escape route must have signs or an emergency bulkhead light.
We offer full installation, maintenance and testing services for Commercial and Industrial clients.
Electrical Testing & Inspection Reports – Landlord certificates / Insurance Work
All electrical installations deteriorate with age and use. They should therefore be inspected and tested at regular intervals to check whether they are in a satisfactory condition for continued use.
Such safety checks are commonly referred to as ‘periodic inspection and testing’. We check the condition of the electrics against the UK standard for the safety of electrical installations, BS 7671 – Requirements for Electrical Installations (IET Wiring Regulations).
Once completed you will be issued with an Electrical Condition Report (EICR).
A periodic inspection will:
- Reveal if any of your electrical circuits or equipment are overloaded.
- Find any potential electric shock risks and fire hazards.
- Identify any defective electrical work.
- Highlight any lack of earthing or bonding.
Tests are also carried out on wiring and fixed electrical equipment to check that they are safe. A schedule of circuits is also provided, which is invaluable for a property.
Electrical Maintenance
From emergency repairs to scheduled routine maintenance we can offer an ongoing maintenance programme contract to suit the needs of individual clients in the retail, entertainment, commercial and industrial sectors.
Contact us to discuss how we can tailor a package to your considerations covering electrical installations, e.g. lamp changes in offices, showrooms and communal stairways. We also provide maintenance on fire alarm systems and emergency lighting. Our electrical engineers are available to provide professional advice to ensure that all your electrical maintenance requirements are met.
Security Alarm Systems
Home Security or Business Premises Security is a high concern for many and we offer a full design service to meet requirements, installation by our fully skilled installers and ongoing maintenance services.
Installing a Security Alarm System is the most influential factor in acting as a deterrent to a break-in. Research shows that the majority of residential burglars will avoid properties with Intruder Alarms fitted altogether.
We will discuss your security concerns and offer advice on how best to protect your property, that also meet current industry standards.
CCTV Installation
We offer full design and installation of CCTV solutions that are a major addition to the security of your home or work premises.
From just a single camera connected to a TV and recording device, through to a full home system with multiple cameras and viewable on your PC or any TV in your home, commercial or industrial unit. Systems range from a simple analogue or digital package to highly advanced digital systems which can be integrated into our other security systems such as intruder alarm or access control.
CCTV can be used to monitor virtually anything: Domestic and Commercial premises as well as stock, machinery, personnel, visitors and much more. Health and Safety can also be achieved by the use of CCTV if there are situations which require monitoring i.e. high risk areas.
Fault Diagnosis and Rectification
Faulty electrical wiring can cause fires and electrocution. Common causes of electrical faults are poor installations, loose terminals, faulty appliances, overloading, rodent damage, water ingress or damaged wiring.
With specialist test equipment, we not only identify the fault, but pin point the specifics and rectify the problem efficiently and effectively.
Understanding and interpreting the test results is essential and when completing a new installation we ensure all the relevant tests are carried out and are recorded on every installation.
New Build Installations
We have vast experience of all types of electrical installations in new properties. All work is carried out to BS7671 standards with building control notifications as required by Part P of the building regulations.
BS7671 is the British Standard for Electrical Installation and incorporates the IEE wiring regulations.
We work on all types of buildings, from starter homes, small single new dwellings including barn conversions and large detached houses to new developments of several properties. New Build work can include early design and consultation with builders and clients followed by the actual installation work through to the testing and hand-over with all electrical certification handled by ourselves.
Fuse Board Upgrades – Replacement & Certification
The latest fuse board consumer units are the beating heart of the electrical wiring systems in our homes.
Every fuse board unit should be guarded by an RCD. Residual-current device’s (RCD’s), or residual-current circuit breaker’s (RCCB’s), are electrical wiring device’s that disengage a circuit when it identifies that the electric current is unbalanced amid the energized conductor and the return neutral conductor, supplying extra safety with no need to worry when in your home.
A fuse board removal or replacement can only be performed by electrician’s qualified to Part P regulation standards. Our Electricians are Part P approved and will renew your old fuse boards and fit you with a new fuse board punctually and efficiently.
Security Lighting
Security lighting is a low-cost process to increase your home and commercial premises security quickly. There are countless varying styles of lighting available in today’s marketplace, practical floodlights, traditional lanterns to more contemporary and industrial styles.
A motion detector detects movement and triggers the light, holding the light on for a several minutes.
We are here to offer practical and expert advice in a layout design to ensure your safety concerns are met with the best possible solution.
Portable Appliance Testing
We offer complete examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use, with printed traceable documentation.
The best way of ensuring that your appliances are safe is to have a PAT test carried out on them. This is a good way for landlords to ensure that they are meeting their legal obligations to maintain high standards of electrical safety in their rented property.
To establish the safety and suitability of your electrical appliances, we will carry out a visual inspection of the appliance, its plug and lead. For Class I equipment we will also inject test signals into the cable and appliance to ensure their integrity.
Upon completion of the portable appliance inspection and testing you will receive a report that details the following as a minimum:
- A full set of test results for each appliance tested.
- A full list of any failed items with an explanation of their failure.
- A visible pass or fail label on each appliance detailing the inspection date, next test due and the inspector’s signature.
- A laminate certificate indicating that your portable appliances have been tested.
Access Control
We install various types of Access Control Systems to provide a solution that will help provide protection to individuals at home, employees, visitors, stock and your property.
They can be as simple or as advanced as required, but in each case the solution will always provide easy access for permitted persons around the building.
They are simple to use and reassuring. Door access control is an affordable option with real benefits:
- You can check all callers before you open your door!
- Ideal for the elderly or anyone who lives alone.
- Offices, factories, residential and nursing homes or lone workers.
In fact wherever control of access is important!
